The Mighty Messenger sewing pattern is a commuter-style messenger bag that is taller than it is wide. The flap sports a zippered slip pocket while the interior includes an additional zippered pocket and a fully padded electronics slip pocket perfect for tablets, portable game systems, or e-readers! The downloadable PDF includes all pattern pieces and fully illustrated instructions on how to construct the bag. Note that this pattern is for intermediate sewists who have experience with zippers.
This pattern was designed during the St. Jude PlayLIVE season in 2019. Raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a passion of mine, and I have named this pattern "Mighty" for the strength and perseverance the children and staff of St. Jude hold on to in their fight against catastrophic childhood illnesses. 50% of all sales of this pattern will be directly donated to St. Jude PlayLIVE!

Errata: If you purchased this pattern prior to April 27, 2020, there are a few minor corrections to the pattern:
-
You should only need 2 pieces of woven interfacing cut for the front, back, and flap exterior pieces. It says 4, but that is only because if you’re using a lightweight cotton, you may want extra interfacing to keep your fabric from stretching.
-
If you’re not using vinyl for the lower gusset, you will need to cut 2 pieces of woven interfacing for it.
-
The zipper guide on Piece B is actually 7.5” wide and not 7” wide. The instructions are correct - it should be 7”.
